Simple pleasures –– simple lists. Post your list of little things that make you happy in a world where there is often something to be sad about. This can also be a place for you to just rag about things that are a drag!
They are kind of labor intensive (YES!!!) but if you pretend that each seed is a little gem, then you can fool yourself (if you're dumb like I am) into thinking that the seeds are treasure. I seeded two big poms and juiced them in our nifty juicer... got about 12 ozs. I mixed the juice with other things so that the juice lasted about a week. It's pretty intense stuff... but quite tasty.
Did any of you eat them as children? I grew up with them in Argentina and loved eating them because they were labour-intensive and because they were messy. Perfect way to keep children occupied AND they're healthy too.
Sally- I never saw (or maybe just never noticed?) poms until I got to college in 1974. I would have liked peeling them, but I bet the little bitty seeds would have put me off when I was a kid. Mostly, I don't think I was sophisticated enough to eat them!
Yum. Now you can buy just the seeds (and avoid the work) at Trader Joe's ....
ReplyDeleteAlso ... where are the kumquats this year?
ReplyDeleteI like Pomegranates. They seem to me,to be, a labor intensive fruit. How much juice can you squeeze from a sole seed?

Maybe the work makes them better -- and I agree with Robot Blogger -- they are like little gems!
