I love these photos. Now you have to tell us the story of meeting Cary Grant at 17.
My grandmother, (the one to the right of Cary Grant) was very good friends with Walter Slazak, a fairly well-known actor in his day (he actually wanted to marry my grandmother). She hung with all the celebs (even went out with Leslie Howard who was Ashley in Gone with The Wind. He asked her to go on a cruise with him and another woman, SCANDELOUS). Anyway, I'm sure that Walter Slazak arranged the meeting with Cary Grant.
Great story Hopie. Your grandma lived in LA? My mom grew up there and dated a couple movie stars before they were movie stars. I think she made coffee for Edward G Robinson... her brush with fame.
No, my grandmother lived in New York, divorced with a small child (my mom) until my mom turned 6. My grandmother was a great socializer (don't think much of her mothering skills). And she knew "everybody". It's actually been a great object lesson for me own children because in those days people really didn't get divorced but she was kinda ahead of her time and even had her own clothing boutique. My mother was raised by nannies (poor little rich girl) and was sent off to boarding school at a very young age. Not such a great childhood.
